BLOOMINGTON -On Saturday the Bloomington-Normal Community Bank will be hosting their annual Shred Day, a free event where people can shred papers that contain sensitive information.
The event begins at 9am and will end at 11am. Bank spokesperson Doug Rush provided specific details about what kinds of papers to shred at the event.
“Anything to do with prescriptions, any personal information like tax returns, bank statements, doctor’s records. Anything like that that you wouldn’t want to get in the wrong hands is definitely a candidate for a shred,” said Rush.
The event will be held in the parking lot adjacent to the Bank’s new facility located on East Empire Street at Carnahan Drive, near the old airport. Cars are being instructed to enter from Carnahan Drive.
Papers that are being shredded can have paper clips, rubber bands and staples. Donations of non-perishable food items for the Midwest Food Bank are also being accepted at the event.
