PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Peoria woman was arrested after allegedly driving a stolen ambulance Wednesday afternoon.
Crystal J. Crane, 41, was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle, said Semone Roth, a spokeswoman for the Peoria Police Department.
Just before 2:30 p.m. on July 15, officers went to the 200 block of Northeast Glen Oak Avenue after receiving a report that a stolen ambulance was being driven recklessly.
A drone was deployed and found the ambulance parked in the 300 block of Wayne Street. When police arrived, the driver allegedly drove off at high speed. To protect the public, police did not immediately pursue the vehicle.
Roth said that the stolen ambulance hit a parked vehicle on St. Marks Court, making it inoperable. Officers arrived on scene and safely took the driver, identified as Crane, into custody.
Crane was arrested and taken to the Peoria County Jail, where records show she remains at this time.
