BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A barber in Bloomington is giving back to her community by providing free haircuts for students as they return to school.
“There’s a lot of power in a haircut. Going back to school, everybody wants to be fresh on their first day,” said Nashya Johnson of CEO Blendz. “To be able to provide at no cost to the families is something I really want to do, especially coming from a single mother.”
Last year, Johnson was able to provide 30 free haircuts. This year, she has more than doubled that number so far, with more than 65 haircuts. Thirty-two children have already booked an appointment for their complimentary haircut.
Johnson is accepting sponsorships until July 31. A sponsorship of $25 provides one haircut.
Complimentary kids’ haircuts should be booked for the month of August. To be a sponsor, email ceoblendz@gmail.com. To book a haircut for a child between the ages of 5 and 18, click here.
