Bloomington – Lorraine E. Teutsch, 87, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:18 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Stephanie Soon officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the start of service on Friday at the memorial home.
Entombment will be at Park Hill Mausoleum in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross.
Lorraine was born on June 12, 1928 in Normal, a daughter to Clyde Harris and Esther May Foster Gaines. She married Harvey G. Teutsch on December 15, 1946 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1995.
Surviving is a son, Kenneth G. (Linda) Teutsch of Bloomington; grandchildren, Kathryn Teutsch of Bloomington and Douglas (Karen) Teutsch of Arizona; great grandchildren, Breanne, Deigo, Lucus, Raegan and Kennedi; one brother, Donavon Gaines of Roberts, IL; step-grandchildren, Kari (Henry) Felde of Peoria, Dan Prescott, Michael (Mindy) Prescott, both of Bloomington; 3 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Harvey, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Winifried and two brothers, Rueben and Leroy.
Lorraine graduated from Normal Community High School in 1946. After graduation and marrying Harvey, they farmed in Yuton and Covell areas for many years. She attended St. Francis School of Nursing and graduated as an L.P.N. She and her mother, Esther operated a nursing home and assisted in various homes in Bloomington-Normal. She volunteered in the Red Cross Blood Mobile for over 20 years, Lorraine received their Volunteer of the Year award in 1986.
She was a long time member of Covell Community Church, and was a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose in Bloomington. For many years, Lorraine enjoyed participating in various groups where ever she could help. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland Health Care, especially Norma and Sue, as well as a special friend and aide, Jennifer.
Lorraine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be deeply missed.
