SHINNECOCK HILLS, N.Y. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Bloomington’s Brandon Holtz is living a dream this week by playing in the U.S. Open.
The amateur golfer’s dream got even better Monday. Holtz played a practice round with Masters champion Rory McIlroy at Shinnecock Hills.
Holtz, a 39-year-old real estate agent, qualified for the U.S. Open by winning the 2025 U.S. Mid-Amateur, also played at The Masters this spring. His practice round partners at Augusta National included Jordan Spieth and Tommy Fleetwood.
The U.S. Open starts Thursday on Long Island.
