BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Unit 5 and Heartland Community College have canceled classes and programming for Wednesday afternoon due to the threat of severe weather.
Dayna Brown, a Unit 5 spokeswoman, said the district will close at 2:30 p.m. Second and third shift employees should not report to work she said. Supervisors will contact affected employees with additional information.
All facility rentals scheduled for this evening are canceled, as well. The school board meeting which was also set for Wednesday night is canceled as well and will be held on June 23.
The public session, Brown said, will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Normal West High School. All public hearings originally scheduled for tonight will be held at Tuesday’s meeting, she said.
Heartland Community College announced they too were canceling all afternoon classes for Wednesday due to severe weather concerns.
The cancellation includes all regular classes at the Normal, Pontiac, and Lincoln locations and all Continuing Education and Kids@Heartland classes, the college said.
