NORMAL – The Normal Police Department is asking for help as it investigates single vehicle versus bicycle a hit-and-run.
Police chief Rick Bleichner said officers were called to an area near College Avenue and Sheringham Drive just after 4:30 p.m. Unfortunately, that's about all the department knows about the accident at this point.
"We don't have any additional identifiers or information on the vehicle," said Bleichner. "We had passersby who stopped and assisted the injured cyclist."
Bleichner said the cyclist received "significant injuries."
"(He) was taken to Advocate BroMenn where he was treated and still remains as a result of those injuries," he said.
Those who might have witnessed the incident or has information police might be able to use for the investigation can call 309-454-9535. Citizens wishing to remain anonymous can call McLean County Crimestoppers at 309-828-1111.
