TOWANDA, Ill. (WMBD) — A two-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 55 claimed the life of a 17-year-old driver Thursday.
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder said Jacey N. Buresh of North Bend, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash at mile marker 173 near Towanda happened about 11:45 a.m. and involved a car and an SUV.
Yoder said Buresh’s cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries sustained when the car she was driving reportedly struck the SUV, crashed and she was ejected from the vehicle.
Buresh was the sole occupant of the car. It’s unclear whether anyone in the SUV was injured.
The crash is still under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
