LOGAN COUNTY, Ill. (WMBD) — Illinois Department of Transportation employees working along U.S. Highway 155 made a most unexpected discovery Tuesday.
While mowing near mile marker 8, between the Emden/San Jose and Hartsburg exits, workers discovered a body on July 21.
The body is that of Ali Mustapha Wahid, said Logan County Coroner Don Peasley.
It is not immediately clear how the 79-year-old man from Addison, Illinois, ended up there, or how long he may have been there.
The death is being investigated by the Illinois State Police and the Logan County Coroner’s Office. The coroner said the McLean County Morgue completed the autopsy.
However, no foul play is suspected, and Wahid likely died of natural causes, Peasley said.
