SPRINGFIELD – As National Teen Driver Safety Week comes to an end, Secretary of State Jesse White is reminding teens that texting and talking on the phone while driving is illegal.
White also has advice for teens on how to handle a traffic stop.
“Don’t make any sudden moves while you are driving and stopped by an officer,” said White. “Like going under the dashboard or going into the glovebox. Don’t make any of those sudden moves because you really put yourself in a difficult situation and you also put the officer in a difficult situation.”
White says you should never exit the vehicle unless told to do so..and reminds you that you should have your license, registration and insurance card ready for the officer.
