BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A railroad crossing closure in Bloomington that was planned for this weekend has been rescheduled.
Due to a change in the construction schedule, the planned closure of the Union Pacificic railroad crossing on West Washington Street over the July 4 weekend has been pushed back a week, said Katherine Murphy, a city of Bloomington spokesperson.
She said the project was delayed because asphalt is not available as originally scheduled.
Pending any other changes, the closure is now expected to take place July 11 through July 13.
Murphy said the project will include replacing the railroad tracks, ties, crossing surface and adjacent asphalt.
The crossing will be closed to all traffic while the work is being done. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when driving in the area.
More information on road closures in the city is available here.
