NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — A Fulton County man was sentenced Tuesday to more than two decades in prison for possessing child pornography.
Tyler S. Kiefer, 30, of Vermont but formerly of Normal, was sentenced in McLean County Circuit Court to four years in prison on each of the six charges he pleaded to, according to court records.
The four-year sentences were to be served consecutively, or one after another, for a total of 24 years behind bars. 18 other counts of similar charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement he reached with prosecutors on March 30.
He will get credit for 15 days already served in custody.
In September 2022, a Normal Police detective, assigned to the Illinois Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force, was tipped off to Kiefer.
Normal police have said that during that investigation, they were able to identify Kiefer as the person who had multiple illicit images of child sexual abuse.
He was arrested in June 2025.
With credit for time served and day-for-day “good-time” credit, he could be released from custody in about 12 years.
