PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The body of a man was found in the Illinois River on Tuesday, according to Coroner Jamie Harwood, who said his office is trying to learn the man’s identity.
The man, whose age is unknown, has been fingerprinted and we are waiting for results, Harwood said.
The man was found near the Bob Michel Bridge around 9 a.m., Harwood said, adding that an autopsy would be done later Tuesday.
When asked how long the man had been in the water, Harwood said that based upon the condition of the body and its temperature, he believed the man had been in the water for less than eight hours.
