BLOOMINGTON – Bob and Julie Dobski have officially passed their McDonald’s ownership to a new pair of owners.

Jack and Gail Millan and their daughter and son-in-law, Mikel and Nicole Petro, will have ownership of all eight McDonald’s restaurants in Bloomington-Normal. The Millans have been McDonald’s owners/operators since 1989, while the Petros have been McDonald’s owners/operators the past seven years. Mikel Petro said they plan on upholding the legacy and fostering the community relationships created by the Dobskis.

“Bob and Julie Dobski have done a fantastic job. They’ve got great people, they’re involved at an extremely high level,” said Petro. “We hope to be able to give back to the community in the same way they do and grow that relationship with our community.”

Jack Millan currently serves on the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Illinois, while Mikel Petro sits on multiple corporation committees with other owner/operators from across the county. The Millan/Petro McDonald’s Group will now own and operate 15 McDonald’s restaurants across Central Illinois, with their new offices based in Bloomington.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
