BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The city of Bloomington announced that it will be launching a new emergency notification system on Monday.
CodeRED will help keep residents up to date on public safety issues, water main breaks and other urgent situations, said Katherine Murphy, a city spokeswoman.
Residents who register their address can also get updates on road construction and utility work.
“We know people want information quickly, especially when it affects their family, neighborhood or daily routine,” said City Manager Jeff Jurgens. “CodeRED gives us another way to communicate directly with residents during emergencies, road construction, utility work, and other events that may impact their day-to-day lives.”
Notifications will be delivered directly to residents by phone calls, texts or emails. Those interested can register for the program here and select how they want to recieve notifications.
