PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 16-year-old driver was cited after a 5-year-old was allegedly hit while riding an electric bike on Monday.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department were called at 7:20 p.m. July 20 to the 1600 block of North Great Oak Drive to a report of a hit-and-run, spokeswoman Semone Roth said.
When officers arrived, they found a 5-year-old boy had allegedly been hit by a car while riding an electric bike and took him to the hospital with minor injuries, Roth said.
The vehicle was not found at the scene when police arrived, but a 16-year-old boy was soon identified as the driver, Roth said.
The 16-year-old driver was cited for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to report a personal injury accident, and released to their parents.
