SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House Executive Committee will meet Wednesday afternoon where they’ll take up the issue of a more than $2 billion spending bill to cover only the month of July.
The bulk of the measure would appropriate over $1.5 billion to the Department of Healthcare and Family Services for various programs. The Department of Corrections would get $109.1 million for their operations. Human Services would get a combined $180 million for mentally ill and developmentally disabled programs, plus an additional $15.4 million for addiction treatment services.
There would also be money for Illinois State Police, the Department of Juvenile Justice, Natural Resources, Emergency Management and others.
It’s the eighth day of the fiscal year and there’s no budget in place.
