SPRINGFIELD – A bill that would punish people for leaving pets outside in extreme hot or cold weather is on its way to the governor’s desk.
The legislation passed in the House Tuesday would make it a misdemeanor to expose dogs and cats to extreme temperatures
Violators of the law could see up to a year in jail and $2,500 in fines.
The bill passed in the Senate last month.
