SPRINGFIELD – Secretary of State Jesse White discusses this weekend’s National Donor Sabbath, a campaign to dispel myths about organ donation.
“Unfortunately, one of the myths associated with the organ and tissue program is I cannot donate for religious reasons or I cannot participate because if I am on life support the doctor is not going to put in a significant effort to save me,” said White.
White says these are common misconceptions. White encourages all Illinoisans to sign up to be an organ donor.
In Illinois there are about 5000 people waiting for an organ.
