BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man has been sentenced to three years in prison for his role in a planned bank robbery and false bomb threat.
Bryan Perschall, 36, reached a plea agreement in which he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit financial institution robbery and disorderly conduct.
Police say Perschall called in a bomb threat to Illinois State University last July as a way to divert police attention away from a robbery that he and a co-defendent Joanna Etter, 36, had planned at Busey Bank on North Veterans Parkway. Perschall ended up not going through with the robbery. Police tracked him down and found a note he had planned to give to a bank teller.
Etter is due back in court for a status hearing on Sept. 30.
