FARMINGTON – An employee of Farmington Central Elementary School will appear next in court in December on charges she tried to solicit a child for sex.
Kelli Miller, 39, of Farmington, appeared in Fulton County Circuit Court for her first appearance with her attorney who entered a not guilty plea. Miller waived her right to have a preliminary hearing and will next appear on Dec. 2 for a pretrial conference. Her trial is set on Dec. 12.
She’s charged with one count of indecent solicitation of a child, a felony that could send her to prison for up to five years. The charges allege the youth was between the ages of 13 and 17.
Last month, Farmington Central District Superintendent Zac Chatterton said it appeared the conduct took place off school grounds.
Chatterton said last month that she was a classroom aide at the school and assists teachers as they are working. He said she is currently on leave from her position pending “law enforcement and internal investigation.” He did not say if it was paid or unpaid leave.
According to a Facebook post, the Farmington police department received a tip that a member of Farmington Central Elementary staff was suspected of trying to solicit a child for sex at their home.
At the brief hearing Monday, Miller’s conditions of pretrial release were modified so she could be around children as long as other adults were present.
