HUDSON – The Easter Seals of Central Illinois Timber Pointe Outdoor Recreation Center has been chosen to receive the AT&T Investing in Illinois Award.
The rec center provides a variety of programs to families and individuals with disabilities. State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) nominated the group for the award.
“They do wonderful work here. This is a camp that provides a service that I don’t know anybody else provides,” said Brady. “(It) provides a service for children throughout the state. Those children, sometimes, even graduate into becoming camp leaders and do other things. So it’s a promotional area.”
The award means a $1,000 donation from AT&T. The funding will be put towards funding Timber Pointe’s various services.
“This might help us finally purchase a saddle,” said Executive Director Deb Townsend. “It’s an inclusive saddle that will help anyone who wants to ride a horse sit on a horse.”
Townsend called the award a “blessing.”
