BLOOMINGTON – Despite what he calls “an act of violence” against the Bloomington Criterium bicycle races last weekend, the event’s organizer says it will continue.
Brandon Beehner says the community has supported the races, and the spreading of thumbtacks on a section of the street course does not represent Bloomington-Normal.
“I think most of us know this is overall a good community,” said Beehner. “Since this race is locally hosted, we’re not going to stop because of something like this.”
Beehner says plans are already underway for next year’s event. Bloomington Police are investigating Sunday’s incident.
