BLOOMINGTON – Tonight at 7, Not In Our Town will be hosting a vigil to remember the lives lost in last week’s shootings.
Not In Our Town was created to fight racism, sexism and bullying in communities. NOIT spokesperson Camille Taylor explained the vigil is being held to bring a sense of healing to the community.
“It’s a vigil to commemorate the victims of Baton Rouge, St. Paul and Dallas. It’s basically a meditation on lives lost, solidarity between souls and a hope for community healing,” said Taylor.
Taylor also expressed how, despite the vigil being in a Christian church, people of all religious backgrounds are welcome to attend.
“Just because it’s in a church setting, I wanted to emphasize to people that even if you are not religious or don’t have a religious affiliation, we still want to encourage everyone to come to our church on Monday night,” said Taylor.
First Christian Church is located at 401 West Jefferson Street in Bloomington.
