BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington-Normal Boys & Girls Club is aiming higher after reaching a campaign target.
The club met its $125,000 goal by the end of June and now local attorney Terry Dodds has issued a $10,000 challenge if the campaign can bring in an additional $10,000 by the end of the month.
“There never can be enough, especially with the state not paying the things they once did,” Dodds said.
CEO Grant Anderson said the funding would help launch a new leadership and career development program for 25 teens.
“They would be learning resume building skills, money management, job interviewing and they’d also be expected to keep up good grades and behavior in school,” Anderson said.
Dodds, the former president of the club’s board, congratulated the work Anderson and the board have done in raising money in recent years.
“We tried when I was there and unfortunately we didn’t have the same success that Grant Anderson and the subsequent board presidents have had,” Dodds said.
Donations can be sent to the club’s Bloomington office at 1615 Illinois Street, zipcode 61701.
