Mary Ann Anderson, 93, of Normal, died at 7:18 a.m., June 4 at Heritage Health in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with her nephew, Rev. Father Richard Altine officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Baby Fold.
Mary Ann was born Jan. 22, 1923 in Lincoln, the daughter of Paul and Leona Phelan Downey. She married Norman C. Anderson on Aug. 11, 1941 in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Karla (Owen) Boyle of Bloomington, a son, Keith (Sylvia) Anderson of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Jane Minick of Lincoln; and many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Anderson, a son, Kevin Anderson and two sisters, Margaret Ingram and Helen Altine.
Mary Ann graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur. Mary Ann and her husband Norman owned and operated Anderson Electric in Normal, where she kept the records for the business. She was a member of the Bloomington Emblem Club, the Bloomington-Normal Woman’s Club, the Route 66 Red Hatters Club, and the Lunch Bunch.
Mary Ann enjoyed keeping in touch with her family on Facebook. She also enjoyed computer graphics and designed birthday cards for her family and friends. Up until her recent illness, she created personalized birthday cards for the residents at McLean County Nursing Home. She will be remembered for her creative flair, her indomitable spirit, and her immense love for her family.
