CLINTON – High paying jobs at the nuclear power plant in Clinton and Cordova, Illinois could be leaving our area.
Plant Spokesman Brett Nauman said legislation aimed at providing financial help to the plants did not advance in the Illinois legislature and employees are waiting for the next step from parent company Exelon.
“At this time the future of the next generation plant remains unclear,” said Nauman. “We will have more to say about the path forward in the next few days.”
The legislation would have added a fee to Illinois utility bills and provided more solar energy opportunities in the state.
Exelon had previously said the plants were not financially viable.
