The administration at Youth Build McLean County is speaking out a day after a student left the charter school after being found with a gun.
Normal Police say the school received an anonymous tip about a certain student having a gun. Youth Build Associate Executive Director Tracy Polson tells us police were not called immediately.
“We weren’t convinced that there was a gun on him,” said Polson. “Our staff wanted to question him and find out if he had it and of course when it presented itself we made sure the facility was safe and contacted the authorities.”
She would not say if the gun was loaded.
Bloomington police say they arrested 18 year old Johnnie T. Jones during an unrelated incident and charged him with unlawful use of a weapon at a school.
