NORMAL – The Normal Town Council plans to vote Monday on awarding the contract for the Raab Road improvement project to Stark Excavating.
The project will involve work between Normal Community High School and Towanda Barnes Road. Deputy City Manager Pamela Reece said much of the roughly $1.5 million project is being funded with state money.
“$1.1 million of that total is coming through state, through the surface transportation program,” said Reece. “The balance, which is about $346,000 or so, is coming through the town’s allocation of motor fuel tax dollars.
“Before we can get that construction project going though, another item on the agenda is with NICOR Gas. We’re asking council to authorize moving with contracting NICOR to relocate one of their gas mains.”
Reece said the contract with Nicor Gas would be for about $45,000.
Normal hopes to start to project in April.
