BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — The Beach Boys are bringing the sounds of summer to Bloomington.
At 7 p.m. on Aug. 13, the group is celebrating 250 years of the USA while saluting 60 years of the “Pet Sounds” album at Grossinger Motors Arena, said Katherine Murphy, a spokesperson for the city of Bloomington.
Before the concert, fans are invited to the Good Vibrations Cruise-in from 4 to 7 p.m. on Front Street outside the area. The free pre-show event will feature classic cars, door prizes and vehicles of all makes and models before the evening’s performance.
Murphy said tickets can be purchased on the Grossinger Motors Arena website.
Since the band’s first hit, “Surfin’” in 1961, The Beach Boys have created a catalog of chart-topping classics, including “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” “California Girls,” “I Get Around,” and more.
The group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, earned more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
