BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A former Chiddix Junior High School teacher will go to trial in mid-September for allegations he groomed a minor.
Brandon Knapp, 44, will next appear in court on Sept. 9 for a pretrial conference and then possibly go to trial on Sept. 14 on two counts of grooming, charges that could send him to prison for up to three years on each count.
He was arrested in April on allegations of grooming against him while he was a teacher. He had been on leave since January, according to the district.
Knapp is the second former faculty member at the school who has been arrested for alleged sexual misconduct.
Andrew “Drew” Miller, 41, of Normal, appeared in McLean County Circuit Court last month after being indicted on 42 charges that included indecent solicitation of a child, grooming and possession of child sex abuse material.
In total, there are seven victims for the 42 total charges.
He’s pleaded not guilty to the allegations and will next appear in court on July 29 for a pretrial hearing. A trial has not yet been set.
