NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — A 36-year-old Dixon man died early Wednesday morning as a result of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 39, the McLean County Coroner announced.
Thomas D. Rockwood was pronounced dead at Carle Bromenn Medical Center at 5:30 a.m. The preliminary cause of death is multiple blunt injuries due to a motor vehicle striking a fixed object, said Coroner Kathleen Yoder.
Per state law, toxicology tests are pending.
Rockwood, the coroner said, was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash which occurred at about 4:23 a.m. near mile marker 1 in the northbound lanes of the interstate. That’s in Normal Township, she said.
This incident remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police.
