BRIMFIELD, Ill. (WMBD) — Troopers with the Illinois State Police continue to investigate the apparent suicide Sunday of a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Springfield.
Troopers and other police agencies discovered the man’s death after a multi-county pursuit. Officers at an unidentified location stopped the car the man was in around 7 p.m. The man fled, and a pursuit began with deputies from the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the state police.
The car was stopped on North Kramm Road, north of Illinois Route 8, in rural Brimfield.
When they approached the car, officials found the man with an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“To protect the integrity of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time,” a state police official said.
