BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A man was hospitalized, and his girlfriend arrested, after he was allegedly stabbed on Friday.
Mariana Motherway, 26, was charged with domestic battery, according to McLean County Court records.
Officers with the Bloomington Police Department were called at 12:20 a.m. on June 5 to the 300 block of Riley Drive, following several calls that a man had been stabbed, records say.
When they arrived, they found a man in the hallway of the apartment with several lacerations and a stab wound to his upper left stomach, the documents said.
He was taken to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and will remain for a few days, it said.
Motherway was seen standing in the doorway of one of the apartment rooms with a stab wound to her right leg and blood on her face and was arrested, according to documents.
When talking to witnesses, they said that the two had allegedly been fighting, the documents said.
One witness said they heard the woman say, “I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to stab you.”
According to jail records, Motherway remains in the McLean County Jail as of Sunday morning.
