BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Demolition of the building on Front and Center Street has been completed, and it has been turned into a surface parking lot.
The demolition of the building started at the end of October last year, and is one of many changing spaces in downtown Bloomington. The lot is not yet open for parking.
The newly opened space offers a new perspective on downtown, letting people see the area in a new way. In addition, the streetscape project affecting North Main Street is also changing the way downtown looks.
As of now, the new space will remain a surface parking lot unless a developer takes an interest in the open space and works with the city to develop it.
