DEER CREEK, Ill. (WMBD) — A man is in custody after allegedly threatening his mother with a knife and then refusing to come out of her Deer Creek house.
Tazewell County Sheriff Jeff Lower said no one was injured and the man was in custody on charges of assault and criminal trespass.
Deer Creek is a village of less than 1,000 people on the border with Woodford County and also abuts Interstate 74.
The incident, the sheriff said, began around 1:30 p.m. at a home off First Avenue. The call, Lower said, came in as a domestic incident that started with an argument.
The man, who is middle-aged, allegedly threatened his mother who then left the home and called police.
Lower said the man then refused to come out of the house for a few hours but eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. No knife was found, the sheriff said.
