UPDATED (10:30 a.m.) — All lanes of Interstate 74 have reopened, the state police said.
MORTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A person has died in an early morning two-vehicle collision on Interstate 74, near Morton, the state police said.
According to the Illinois State Police, the incident happened at about 5:40 a.m. Thursday in the eastbound lanes of the interstate at mile marker 102.
The state police said that two vehicles collided. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three people involved were taken to an area hospital with injuries, the state police said.
One of the westbound lanes of I-74 is close as are all of the eastbound lanes. Vehicles are getting off at Morton Avenue and returned the interstate on the other side of the exit, the state police said.
