COOKSVILLE, Ill. (WMBD) — Three people are now dead after a two-vehicle collision in rural McLean County, Sunday afternoon.
According to McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder, the crash that happened at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 9 and 2600 East Road and killed two women and a man.
Beth L. Brucker, age 58, of Ellsworth, Illinois, was the driver and sole occupant of the mid-size SUV and died at the scene. Hui-Lan Chen Chiang, 82, of Millbrae, California, was a rear occupant of the passenger van and also died in the crash.
Yoder said preliminary autopsies indicate both women died of multiple blunt force injuries.
A front seat occupant of the passenger van is the third person who died Tuesday, about 1:50 p.m. at Carle BroMenn. He has been identified only as an 86-year-old man from Millbrae, California, a city of 23,000 just outside of San Francisco.
The initial report on Sunday was that several occupants of the passenger van were transported to area hospitals with injuries. It’s still unclear how many people were in the van or the extent of the other injuries they may have sustained.
This incident and the cause of the collision remain under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
