PONTIAC, Ill. (WMBD) — Several people were arrested after an ATM was found open, but no money was taken.
Winder G. Franco Martinez, Dairon J. Mendez Duez, Yohel J. Martinez Hildalgo and Betania E. Diaz were all arrested on the charge of burglary.
He said two juveniles and a woman were released without any charges.
Officers with the Pontiac Police Department were called at approximately 8 p.m. on Nov. 29 to the 1700 block of West Reynolds Street, said Assistant Police Chief Brad Baird.
When they arrived, they found the ATM was open, but no money taken, he said.
Officers were able to follow the footprints of two people in the snow, where it was reported they had entered a vehicle, Baird said.
A vehicle was seen leaving the area, and seven people were found inside. There were allegedly “ATM burglary tools” inside, the assistant chief said.
He said the department is working with the FBI, which is working to investigate a nationwide ATM burglary, as it is a “recent crime trend.”
