BLOOMINGTON – The United States Hockey League has released its 2015-16 season schedule.
The announcement came Thursday morning and adds to the Thunder’s already released home opener date of Sept. 25 vs. Waterloo. The full Bloomington schedule can be viewed here.
Thirty games will be played at U.S. Cellular Coliseum and another 30 will be played on the road this season. Once again, the Thunder will compete from the final week in September through April, seeking a berth in the Clark Cup Playoffs.
Highlighting the schedule will be eight games against the reigning Anderson Cup champion Youngstown Phantoms, the most head to head games of the season for Bloomington. Adding to the Eastern Conference competition, the Thunder will also face off with Chicago, Green Bay, Muskegon, and Team USA for six games each.
Twenty-six of the Thunder’s 30 home games will be played on Fridays and Saturdays. Two games will be played on Sundays throughout the season. The remaining two will be played during the week including a Martin Luther King Day game and a Presidents Day game.
In the Thunder’s inaugural season, the team earned a 29-24-7 record, narrowly missing the postseason. Bloomington grabbed 16 of its wins on home ice during the year, posting up just the second winning season in Bloomington hockey history since 2006.
The Thunder will also be taking to the road prior to the 2015-16 season and make stops in Green Bay and Madison for their preseason match ups.
The Thunder’s 2015 preseason schedule will be released throughout the off-season.
