PONTIAC, Ill. (WMBD) — A 70-year-old woman was killed in a crash at about 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Walmart Drive on West Reynolds Street in Pontiac.
According to the Livingston County Coroner, Nancy Benedict of Pontiac was transported to OSF St. James, where she was pronounced dead just before 10 a.m.
In a released statement, Coroner Mike Renner said when the crash happened, Michael Stalter, who was in a pick-up truck, was approaching Walmart Drive eastbound. Benedict’s car sustained damage to the driver’s side.
“Both vehicles were heavily damaged and came to rest in the intersection,” he said.

Stalter, who is 63, was treated and released. The Chenoa resident was also ticketed for disobeying a traffic signal.
The coroner said an autopsy is pending and the accident remains under investigation by Pontiac Police, Livingston County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police accident reconstruction unit.
