BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder has identified a woman who died after a crash on Tuesday.
Jessica J. Wimp, 24, of Bloomington died from “multiple blunt injuries due to an automobile striking a fixed object,” Yoder said.
Bloomington police responded to the crash at approximately 4:30 a.m. near West Graham and North Lee Streets after a report of a vehicle crashing into a residence, a Bloomington police news release said.
Firefighters were called to the scene to help extricate Wimp. The McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team was also called to the scene.
Wimp was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Lee Street when it left the roadway and struck a tree, then a home, before coming to a stop.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Bloomington Police Department, we extend our condolences to the grieving family and friends,” stated Chief Jamal Simington. “Traffic collisions
negatively impact families for generations, and employing safe driving habits at all times is imperative to saving lives. Before putting a vehicle in motion, pledge to drive defensively and safely on every trip. Each of us has a tremendous responsibility to one another as we navigate the roadways in this community.”
No other injuries were reported during this crash. This incident remains under investigation.
