EUREKA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Bloomington man is dead after a crash on Route 117 near Eureka this morning.
The crash between a motorcycle and a truck pulling a trailer was reported about 8:10 a.m. at Route 117 and County Road 500N, south of Eureka.
A statement from the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office said, “the truck pulling a trailer stopped in the lane of traffic attempting to turn into a field entrance on the West side of the road. While the truck was stopped, the motorcycle rear-ended the trailer.”
“The motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle,” said Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirms the 42-year-old driver of the motorcycle was transported to OSF Medical Center and was pronounced at 9:12 a.m.
The crash is still being investigated by the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction unit. Route 117 was re-open to traffic just before noon.
