Lansing, MI- The Peoria Chiefs tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh but gave up two homers in the bottom of the inning in a 6-2 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts on Saturday night. The loss, their fourth in a row, drops the Chiefs to a season-worst four games under .500 at 26-30. Trailing 2-0 into the seventh inning, the Chiefs tied the game against Lansing starter Chase de Jong. Danny Diekroeger led off with a single, his second hit of the game. Alex DeLeon launched a towering home run off the fair pole in right field for his third home run of the season. The blast cleared the 23-foot-high wall down the line and hit halfway up the pole to tie the game 2-2. Kender Villegas took over for Jack Flaherty to start the bottom of the seventh and Mike Reeves singled before Chris Carlson walked. Tim Locastro, the Lugnuts #9 hitter, put the hosts back on top 5-2 with a home run into the left-field berm. After an out, Richard Urena’s fourth hits of the game was a mammoth home run to right-field for a 6-2 Lugnuts lead. Flaherty took a no-decision with a career-high six innings. The right-hander allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out five and walking three. Villegas (0-1) took the loss allowing four runs on three hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning. Nick Lomascolo threw the final 1 2/3 shutout innings while walking one and striking out two.
