GIBSON CITY – Elementary students returning to the classroom in Gibson City in a couple of weeks will have to do so without a cell phone.
This summer, the Gibson City Melvin Sibley School district enacted a new policy banning phones or outside electronics from the classroom.
Previously, the district asked students to turn off phones or put them in students’ lockers, but this led to too many issues.
The district said students can access the devices at the end of the school day.
