CENTRAL ILLINOIS – Positive COVID-19 tests are going up once again in Central Illinois.
Though we aren’t seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases, there is still an uptick in positive tests.
Four weeks ago, the percentage of positive COVID-19 cases in Illinois was 11.1%. Last week they were 15.5%
COVID-19 deaths were also up 1.3% last week, and emergency room visits for COVID-19 were up 18.7% last week.
While speaking with a health professional, they said the worry about a COVID-19 surge is not there, and that people should still make sure to keep their hands clean.
Well, the general recommendation as far as preventing respiratory illnesses still wash your hands continuously, cough and sneeze into your arm,” said Epidemiologist with Tazewell County Health Department Megan Hanley. “Use hand sanitizer after that. Stay home if you’re sick and then make sure you get immunized if possible.”
A local human resources representative says their workforce is staying the course of the same precautions.
We are always monitoring the situation and our dedicated staff can respond quickly,” said Vice President of Human Resources for CEFCU Tammie Fletcher. “We have dedicated COVID phone number, email distribution, a special questionnaire that we have employees fill out to help direct them, whether they quarantine or not. If those things were to be implemented again by the CDC or local governments.
The symptoms to watch for when it comes to COVID are fever or chills, coughing, shortness of breath and sore throat.
