ST CLOUD, Minn. – A former Illinois State University President has a new job at a Minnesota University.
According to St. Cloud State University Communications, Larry Dietz was appointed interim university president by the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges.
Dietz served as the 19th President of Illinois State University from 2014 to 2021. Before that, he served as the Vice President of Student Affairs from 2011 to 2014.
At the time he left Illinois State, he said he planned to retire and spend more time with his family.
Scott Olson, chancellor of Minnesota State, said he was happy Dietz agreed to come out of retirement.
“Larry’s extensive knowledge and experience in public higher education are the perfect combination for SCSU at this time, and I am confident that under his leadership, the university will move forward to serve its students and employees successfully, the Central Minnesota community, and the entire state,” Olson said.
Dietz appointment will begin on July 1 and is expected to last the next two years.
He will replace President Robbyn Wacker, who served as president at SCSU since 2018, and announced her plans to leave the university at the end of her contract, according to SCSU Communications.
