SPRINGFIELD – Let’s hear it for teachers!
That’s a good way to summarize the findings in the Illinois Education Association’s latest State of Education survey.
“When Illinoisans are told teachers don’t get Social Security. the numbers who believe teachers should recieve their full pension, which has always been really high, this year rose by an additional six points,” Llorens told an online news conference Tuesday.
“With parents, it remained at 74 percent. The number of people who believe pensions should be cut remained below fifteen percent in every category.”
Al Llorens, the union president, says there is support for teacher pensions, too, especially because they don’t earn Social Security.
