SPRINGFIELD – If you like your kids’ virtual classroom, you don’t get to keep it.
When the Illinois State Board of Education voted everybody would be in class in person in the fall, it did so over the objection of parents such as Springfield’s Katherine Eastvold.
“I am here to urge the board not to adopt the resolution on the table, but instead to allow school districts the flexibility to offer remote learning as an option for those students who cannot be vaccinated by the beginning of the next school year,” she said.
That, of course, would include kids under twelve. The board did not agree, voting unanimously for in-person learning for everyone starting this fall.
