BLOOMINGTON – Those who frequent downtown Bloomington are being asked to provide feedback regarding parking.
The city resurfaced Main Street in the downtown last summer and is preparing to repaint the parking and driving lane lines. Before that happens, the city is offering a survey on downtown parking, according to Bloomington Public Works Director Kevin Kothe.
“Obviously there are a lot of uses in the downtown area with businesses, restaurants, commercial space, and residential, so there’s a lot of different parking demands,” he said. “We want to be sensitive to those needs and figure out how we can better serve the current businesses and residents of the downtown area.”
Kothe said in particular, the city’s interested in the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street where parking can sometimes be limited. A partnership with the city’s economic development department will allow stakeholders in the area to share their thoughts on parking, according to Kothe.
The parking survey is around 16 questions and is available until March 12. A link to the survey is available here.
There’s not a specific date for repainting on Main Street, but Kothe expects it to happen sometime this summer.
